What is the Amelia Pride Center?
The Amelia Pride Center is an alternative education environment which offers programs for students in grades 9-12.

How are students placed at the Amelia Pride Center?
High school students are referred to an alternative education placement by his or her high school principal. Referrals will be reviewed by the director for alternative education.

Placement for disciplinary reasons will be determined on an individual basis by the school division superintendent.

What is the curriculum at the Amelia Pride Center?
The Amelia Pride Center curriculum is based on textbooks and written instructional packets, which are correlated to the Virginia Standards of Learning and designed to meet the needs of students at all levels of ability.

Students
ID’s are provided. Students attend 3 hours per day (Monday – Friday). Two time slots available:

  • 7:30 – 11:00 a.m.
  • 11:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Hours of Operation
Monday – Friday: 7:15 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.

Transition for Return to Home-Base School
Students are reviewed for return to home-base schools.

Transportation
Transportation must be provided by parent or guardian.

Security
Metal detector and police officer utilized to screen all individuals entering the building.
