Year-Round Elementary School
APPLICATION DEADLINE: March 13, 2012
Beginning February 10, 2012, we will accept applications for William Marvin Bass Elementary School (WMBES) for the 2012-2013 school year for students that reside within Lynchburg City but outside of the WMBES attendance zone. All students entering kindergarten and currently enrolled in pre-kindergarten through fourth grade are eligible to apply. Transportation for both zoned and invited students will be provided. Also, siblings of currently enrolled students will be given preference, if space is available. Students entering kindergarten must be five years old on or before September 30, 2012.
Williams Marvin Bass Elementary School will provide students with a variety of challenging instructional experiences which employ the latest trends in educational technology and instructional methodologies. Moreover, the program at the school will continue to:
- provide year-round calendar
- offer small class sizes
- require school uniforms
- supply intersession for 5 extra weeks or 25 extra days of school for selected students
- explore methods for students to perform exceptionally well on the Standards of Learning (SOLs)
- engage in many community partnerships
We encourage all eligible students to consider applying for enrollment in this exciting program.
If you reside in the student attendance zone for William Marvin Bass Elementary School, your child will automatically be assigned to the school which supports your school zone. If you do not live in the student attendance zone and if you wish to apply for this program, please complete the application and return the completed application to the Department of Information Technology at the School Administration Building by 5:00 p.m. on March 13, 2012.
We have a comprehensive array of special education services at our schools. Some special education services are so unique; however, that they are available only through division-wide programs housed at specific schools. We will review each child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) to determine whether we can implement the IEP at this school.
