Class Overview
Welcome to Mrs. Dearden’s exciting 3rd grade class! I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share in the lives of my students! This will be a year filled with learning and growth . . . and I expect that all my students will leave my class in June not only with new knowledge in all content areas, but with new perspectives on learning and life. My expectations are high for all students because I want to see every student achieve his or her fullest potential! I try to view my students as “mini-adults,” as they will someday be mature, productive members of their communities. With that in mind, my goal is to help all students grow not only academically, but socially as well.
I believe in holding students accountable for their choices and actions. I also believe in real consequences for choices . . . not meaningless, repetitive dialogue. As such, my students quickly learn that I mean what I say. However, this ideal carries a very positive message too! If I tell the students that I will reward their good choices, I do! (My students will attest that my “prize box” is filled with highly sought after treasures.)
I hope that my consistency will provide structure and order to our classroom . . . and a positive example for my students. Our class will be a positive learning environment every day!
