Class Overview
Welcome to Fifth Grade! I am excited to be working with, getting to know, and teaching your child this year! This year the fifth grade will be departmentalizing. Reading and Language Arts will be taught in each homeroom class in the morning. Then in the afternoon the students will be rotating to each fifth grade teacher to be taught Science, Math, and Virginia Studies. I will be teaching Virginia Studies.
In Reading this year students will be using a combination of the Harcourt Trophies Reading series as well as various supplemental trade or chapter books. In Virginia Studies students will be using a combination of an interactive notebook and the Harcourt Horizon Virginia’s textbook.
