Athletic Director
Welcome to Dunbar Athletics! I am Mr. Loos (pronounced like “loose”) and I am the Athletic Director for Paul Laurence Dunbar Middle School for Innovation.
Intramural sports: Intramurals are sports played here at Dunbar in which the students play against other Dunbar students. No tryouts or physicals are required (only a permission slip) and many have no cost associated with them. Everyone who shows up gets to participate. In the fall, we offer soccer and basketball. In the winter, we offer ice skating. In the spring, we offer Putt-Putt, bowling and open gym. Please be on the lookout for intramural information.
Interscholastic sports: We also offer a wide variety of sports in which we compete against other schools. And while Dunbar has the proud Poet tradition, many of our sports teams have recently adopted the moniker Mad Dogs, after one of our great football players from a bygone era. Season include: Fall - football, cheerleading, girls volleyball, girls tennis, cross country. Winter - basketball, wrestling, cheerleading. Spring - soccer, track, boys tennis.
Those wishing to be a part of the interscholastic sports program must have a valid physical on file in the main office (after May 1, 2008) and must not have any failing grades on their report card.
