Holly Frazier, a social studies teacher at Heritage High School, was one of thirty-five educators from across the nation selected to attend C-SPAN Classroom's 2011 Educators' Conference in Washington D. C. this July.
C-SPAN Classroom’s annual summer conference helps educators make social studies content come alive in the classroom. The conference brings together middle and high school educators who specialize in social studies and use C-SPAN in their classrooms. Ms. Frazier competed with more than 100 other applicants to secure a place at the conference. C-SPAN provides the round-trip airfare and hotel accommodations for all selected attendees.
“Our goal for the conference is that following an agenda-packed two days, teachers will return to their communities armed with solid teaching tips, tools, and strategies for using C-SPAN to engaged their students in a better understanding of how government works, as well as how to become informed citizens,” says Joanne Wheeler, C-SPAN vice president of education.
Over the course of the two-day event, participants will learn more about C-SPAN’s Video Library, Congressional Chronicle, and a host of other FREE digital and social media resources that can be implemented in the classroom. Participants will also hear from presidential historian and author, Richard Norton Smith at the conference dinner.
