On March 1st, Lynchburg City Schools launched its mobile version of the school division website. Now, when mobile users log on to www.lcsedu.net, they will automatically be redirected to the mobile version. The design is simplified to improve the speed of the site, and the navigation uses a familiar look that works well with small touch screens.
When mobile users first log on to the LCS webpage, a floating messages tells them how to add the mobile friendly LCS webpage as a shortcut on their home screen. The site also includes a search feature for quick access to information.
Some websites limit the information available on the mobile version of their site, but LCS felt that the need was there to deliver everything on the mobile site. If users choose to do so, there is a link at the bottom of each page that allows them to jump back to the full version of the site.
