Sandusky Middle School student Manan Shah won the Drowsy Poet Contest held by the News & Advance in May. The title of his winning poem is “ The Burning Eye”.
"The Burning Eye" As darkness covers over, I keep on trembling. As I shake and shake, Cracks are forming. People throw trash at me. I want to be left alone. My solemn pieces are breaking. My temperature is dropping, Causing blizzards across me. I keep on shifting, As more people are dying. I want to live in peace. I am becoming another dwarf, But no one will understand my pain, Unless if you've been looking through the deadly reflection, Of the eyes you stand on this moment - Earth. |
