The Lynchburg City School Board has approved the superintendent’s recommendation to hire Mr. Ron Proffitt as the new principal for Linkhorne Middle School.
Since 2016, Mr. Proffitt has been a valuable member of the LCS community. He has served as the Associate Principal for Heritage High School, where he was the building’s designated principal in the principal’s absence. He supervised and evaluated the English, Career Tech, and Physical Education departments. He was also the administrator in charge of academic achievement and student discipline. He played a crucial role in the implementation of the HHS School Improvement Plan.
Prior to coming to LCS, Mr. Proffitt held administrative roles at two other secondary schools in Virginia. He was Assistant Principal at Bassett High School from 2010-2016 and Assistant Principal at Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School from 2006-2010. He began his career in education as an English Teacher at Bassett High School, where he taught 9th and 10th grade English from 1998-2006.
“Mr. Proffitt is a skilled educator and in his two years with LCS has established himself as administrator who is committed to building strong connections and solid relationships with students, faculty, and staff,” said LCS Superintendent Crystal Edwards.
Mr. Proffitt has a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Virginia Tech and a bachelor’s degree in English from Emory & Henry College.
