Lynchburg has seen an increased number of COVID-19 cases in children under the age of 18. The Delta variant of COVID-19 is present in our city and has proven to be highly contagious. With this in mind, it is important to send a few reminders as we prepare for the Labor Day weekend.
Please continue to use mitigation strategies such as handwashing, wearing masks when in close proximity to others, covering your coughs and sneezes, and remaining socially distanced.
COVID-19 Precautions & Best Recommendations As Recommended by CDC
Masks are now recommended for vaccinated individuals in public indoor spaces to reduce the spread of the Delta variant. Unvaccinated people should continue to wear mask in all public spaces
Gatherings
Indoor gatherings should be avoided with people outside the immediate household, unless you are fully vaccinated. Outdoor gatherings with masks and distancing are a safer alternative.
Traveling
Travel should be avoided unless it is necessary or you are fully vaccinated. However, should you plan on traveling this holiday weekend:
- Always check state and local guidelines before traveling
• Before traveling, double-check with your airline for any travel restrictions.
• If you travel internationally, please inform your nurse prior to traveling to review protocols.
• https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/travel-during-covid… - Take plenty of masks
- Pack hand sanitizer or disinfectant wipes
- Spend time outdoors rather than indoors
- Bring a mask with you wherever you go
- Stay home if you feel sick
- Contact your school nurse or supervisor if you have been exposed to or have COVID-19 symptoms prior to returning to school.
