After a long and distinguished career in public education, E. C. Glass High School Principal Rose Flaugher has announced her decision to retire at the end of the 2022-23 school year. Her retirement comes after more than two decades of outstanding and dedicated service in leadership roles at E. C. Glass. The search is now underway for Lynchburg City Schools (LCS) to find the next principal of E. C. Glass High School.
LCS recognizes the critical role that school principals play in our community. We believe it is important to engage with our community as we proceed in finding the next E. C. Glass principal. This leader will guide E. C. Glass into its next chapters, expand on the school’s long-standing Tradition of Excellence, and drive a culture of opportunity and success for all students.
To begin the search process, LCS will develop a profile for the ideal candidate based on school and community input, with particular focus on what our community wants to achieve together at E. C. Glass—both for our students and our larger community. Parent, student, faculty, and community voices on the future direction of E.C. Glass will be essential to Lynchburg City School’s success in recruiting the best principal candidates from across the country. We will be looking for educational leaders who will engage with and enhance our shared vision for exceptional high school education at E. C. Glass. But first, we need the community to come together to help us shape that vision.
The school community and members of the public can submit feedback to the E. C. Glass High School Principal Profile Survey through January 20, 2023. There will also be two in-person public engagement sessions held in the Marie Waller Lecture Hall at E. C. Glass. Though we know parents and families of our current and future students will have a particular interest in this recruitment, all community members are welcome and encouraged to attend.

- Wednesday, January 18, 2023 6:00 p.m.
There will be additional engagement sessions with E. C. Glass faculty, staff, and students throughout January. All sessions will be focused on developing a vision for the future of E. C. Glass High School, which will allow us to find the best Principal.
Upon completion of the candidate profile, LCS will actively recruit for the principal position beginning at the end of January and plans to make a hiring decision in the spring.
