The five top-scoring students in the R. S. Payne Elementary School math club competed in Washington, D. C. on Saturday, April 20 against more than 350 third through fifth graders from across D. C., Maryland, and Virginia. Isaac Spontarelli, Archer Edmonds, Luca Khan, Magnolia Chisolm, and Shreyan Mondal placed sixth in the team division. Spontarelli placed seventh in the fifth grade division, and Mondal placed fifth in the third and fourth grade division.
Coach Adam Spontarelli led the team along with teacher sponsor Georgianna Cary. Funding for the competition was provided by the LCS Education Foundation and the R. S. Payne PTO.
