E. C. Glass High School twelfth graders Nicholas Watson and Michael Thomas were unveiled as the winners of the 2024 Hilltopper Alumni Football Scholarship on Monday, April 22, 2024. They were each awarded $5,000, which will be spread out over the next four years as they attend college as student athletes.
Watson plans to attend Christopher Newport University, and Thomas will attend Emory and Henry College. Both were selected for their outstanding dedication to leadership, academics, and work ethic.
Made possible by an anonymous group of alumni donors through local nonprofit Lynchburg Beacon of Hope, the scholarship has been awarded to students annually for the past three years and is set to continue until the class of 2026.
“We are honored to carry the legacy of support from the E. C. Glass community into the college journeys of our young student-athletes, fostering leadership and success,” said Beacon of Hope Deputy Director Leidra McQueen.
