E. C. Glass High School was recognized by the College Board on the 2024 Advanced Placement (AP) School Honor Roll. Schools earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to promoting a college-focused school culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.
This is the second year E. C. Glass has received this distinction since the AP School Honor Roll launched in 2023. E. C. Glass is among the 5,061 schools across North America—which represent 32% of eligible high schools—that were recognized this year.
“It’s an outstanding accomplishment to be recognized for our commitment to college readiness and rigorous academics at E. C. Glass. Our AP program provides opportunities for students to find long-term success through postsecondary education,” said E. C. Glass High School principal Dani Rule.
E. C. Glass received a bronze AP School Honor Roll award for meeting the following criteria:
- College Culture: 40% or more of the graduating cohort took at least one AP Exam during high school.
- College Credit: 25% or more of the graduating cohort scored a three or higher (on a five-point scale) on at least one AP Exam during high school.
- College Optimization: 2% or more of the graduating cohort took five or more AP Exams during high school. At least one of those exams was taken in ninth or 10th grade, demonstrating that students spread their AP experience across grades rather than feeling disproportionate pressure in any single year.
Research shows students who take AP courses and exams are more likely to attend college and graduate on time. The students who enter four-year colleges with credit from AP accelerate their path to graduation and build confidence for college success. And even for those who don’t earn college credit, AP coursework provides early exposure to college-level work and contributes to a college-going school culture.
The AP School Honor Roll isn’t the only recognition LCS high schools received from the College Board this year. One hundred and seventeen E. C. Glass and Heritage high school students and graduates earned AP Scholar Awards for their outstanding performance on multiple 2024 AP Exams, and several E. C. Glass students received prestigious AP Capstone Diplomas and AP Seminar and Research Certificates. Learn more here.
