Five students from E. C. Glass and Heritage high schools played in the South Central Senior Regional Honors Orchestra from Nov. 8-9, 2024 at Charlottesville High School. The students rehearsed and performed alongside the top student musicians in the region under guest conductor Dr. Naima Burrs, Director of Orchestral Activities at Virginia State University.
These students rose above hundreds of high school students from all over the region to secure their spots in the orchestra this September. Ranked by professional judges, they were assigned positions in the regional orchestra based on their performances at the auditions.
“We’re incredibly proud of our students, who were ranked among the top student musicians in the Central Virginia region. The South Central Senior Regional Honors Orchestra event provided a unique opportunity for these students to collaborate with an ensemble of students they had never met before and present a high-caliber full orchestral performance, showcasing their preparation, musicality, and technical mastery,” said LCS Strings Director Ginger Paris.
