E. C. Glass High School student Lindsay Riordan was selected in January by a regional committee to participate in March in the University of Virginia's Jefferson Scholarship competition.
Students from area high schools had to apply for the competition through their schools. They had to write a leadership essay and give a summary of their extracurricular activities. Finally, they took part in an interview by the regional committee. Riordan was one of two students in the region to be chosen for the March competition.
Students from around the world will be competing at UVa for a full tuition scholarship plus stipend and books.
Jacob Jaminet represented Heritage High School well in the January competition, but did not advance to the March competition.
