With all the recent weather delays and closings in January, being at school is certainly something to celebrate this February.
And at Dearington Elementary School for Innovation, everyone celebrated their 100th day of school in style with a day-long carnival devoted to math and reading activities.
Students and staff members, from the main office, to the cafeteria and everywhere in between, were decked out in specially-made glasses and ties, showcasing the number 100. Throughout the morning, Kindergarten, first- and second-graders transitioned from different stations to do grade-appropriate activities. Later in the day, it was the third-, fourth- and fifth graders’ turns. At the end of the day, every student had a complete 100th Day of School collection.
School board member Tom Webb also was part of the day’s festivities, where he shared stories and memorabilia from his trip to this year’s Super Bowl. Superintendent Scott Brabrand also stopped by to take part in the celebration.
