Since September, Sandusky Middle School 21st Century Community Learning Center students traveled to Amazement Square two days a week where they worked on a futuristic city model. Then, the group recently traveled to North Carolina State University for a regional competition called Future City. For the competition, they had to not only construct a model, but also write a lengthy essay and create a virtual city as well. They had to explain the importance of their city's water system, disaster prevention, energy sources, economy, etc. to several judges and answer intricate questions back to back for several hours.
