Dear LCS community,
We have some highlights to share with you from our School Board Meeting on Tuesday, May 3, 2022.
As part of the special presentation, The School Board presented a resolution of commendation and appreciation to both Student School Board Representatives Jaiden Scott (E. C. Glass) and Eugene Kim (Heritage). The School Board also recognized and congratulated the school building Teachers of the Year and Support Persons of the Year. The School Board recognized Cathy Drumheller, who was named our 2022 LCS Teacher of the Year.
Superintendent Dr. Crystal Edwards provided the School Board with an update on the CARES Funds.
As part of the community update, Superintendent Dr. Edwards discussed the facilities studies, the 2022-23 operating budget, and the Lynchburg Area Food Council. Deputy Superintendent Amy Pugh discussed summer programs and student registration & enrollment. Director of Transportation Hope Custer encouraged parents to complete online registration as soon as possible so that the Transportation Department can begin building bus routes. Director of Equity and Community Relations Ethel Reeves provided information on the culture & climate survey and volunteering in schools.

The series of Community Conversations will continue on Monday, May 9 at 6:00 p.m. at Paul Munro Elementary School, 4641 Locksview Road. All are invited to attend. The next School Board Work Session is scheduled for Tuesday, May 17, at 5:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the School Administration Building.
